Yesteryear Collection

Quite possibly the most important automotive milestone of all was the one that made it possible for the common man to own a car.
Henry Ford invented the methods of mass production, transforming the automobile from a luxury owned by the well-heeled of society to a mode of transportation available to society as a whole, which badly needed an affordable substitute for horse-driven vehicles. Ford's "Tin-Lizzie" was used for virtually every purpose, including a wide variety of commercial activities. In this realm, the truck version - the Model TT - was both an open back pickup and a panel truck. The panel truck was particularly appealing to enterprises that wanted to display a message on the side.

Now the classic 1926 Ford Model TT has been chosen as the 1999 Matchbox Collectors Guild edition. This special die-cast model has been crafted exclusively for members of the Matchbox Collectors Guild.

This model is beautifully presented in a special box on behalf of the Matchbox Collectors Guild. The toy is coloured very vividly in red and black with tasteful decals dressing the bodywork. It’s a definite prime addition to anyone’s model collection - being a limited edition release in that it was limited to the number or members in the Guild! Recipients also received a blue-pnnt copy of the model.

The majority of seats were bright red, however some models appeared with a dark grey seat. The chassis still incorporated the screw hole bosses, which were a legacy of the model appearing in the Great Beers of the World series, but the holes were 'blind'. The appropriate baseplate legend, cast or printed, remained on the base of the van body. Two rivets retained the axle housings to the chassis, whilst the chassis was in turn attached to the body and cab by two screws.

Note: *Some wheel hubs were modified so that the axle hole did not go right through the wheel hub; hence the axle end was not visible in the centre of the wheel. This is Type B.
